The Barns

Someday Farm features two barns, one a traditional restored barn originally built for sheep, and a new “barn” that is a dream workshop and designed to accomodate a sawmill.

The Workshop

The new barn was built to house a Woodmizer sawmill, a woodworking shop, and space for drying lumber facilitated by a hoist.  The building also contains a powder room and is heated by a wood-fired hot water system in the flooring.

Tack Room and Cool Room 

The white building picture is next to the horse run in shed.  On the left is a tack room with saddle racks and pad drying racks.  On the right is a food preparation area with walk-in cooler perfect for aging meat, and stainless still countertops and sink. 

Garden and Orchard

There is an 80 foot-long raised bed garden with four stand hosepipes and electricity enclosed in kennel wire across the farm drive from an established orchard featuring chestnuts, peaches, cherries and figs.

Equipment Shed, Fuel Tanks, and workman bathroom

At the entrance to the pastures is an equipment shed with tanks for farm diesel and fuel, set up for a compressor, room for parking large equipment under roof, and a bathroom area for work crews.

Livestock

There are run in sheds for sheep, horses, and goats at Someday Farm. The horse run in shed is located next to the tack room.

Ponds

There are three beautiful ponds at Someday Farm, two of which are visible from the main house.  Ponds are filled by a combination of natural springs and overland flow.  A branch of Preddy Creek flows through the property. The main pond has been stocked with grass eating carp, bass, and bull frogs who add their unique Virginia sounds to early evening on the patio.

Wildlife

Wildlife abounds at Someday Farm including deer, turkey, fox, otters, opossums, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes and the neighborhood bear. The main pond is on the raptor flyway during spring and fall migration and peregrine falcon and bald eagles have been spotted. Wildlife is one of the joys of the property.
